DRUMMING WORKSHOPS

MEDITATION, IMAGINATION and ENCHANTMENT.
10 PRACTICAL DRUMMING WORKSHOPS OF SELF DISCOVERY.

Betws y Coed Memorial Hall, Autum 2009 and Spring 2010

Using the gentle beat of the BODHRÁN, the ancient drum of the Islands of Britain, Alan Collinson, story-teller and poet, will present a series of talks and practical demonstrations that will transport the listeners from the calm waters of inner peace to the great waves of joy and celebration.  The connecting feature in each of these 10 workshops will be the Bodhrán (pronounce 'bowrawn' or 'burran') which is played in a way that is unique to Britain and Ireland.

Healing sounds are part of that great sacred therapy still practiced by the holy men and women, shamen and healers throughout the indiginous people of the world.  But for the first time in Britain for nearly 400 years the Bardic Drum will sound again in Wales.  Fusing this ancient drum with modern techniques not available to our ancestors, these demonstrations will reveal the most potent force for personal change that anyone can experience.

Treating life as a hero's quest, Alan Collinson, (aka Alan Drwm) will open doorways leading to our own personal musical enchantments, that in turn give access the three bardic cauldrons of experience; joy, sorrow and inner peace.  In Alan's hands the drum will act as a spiritual guide that will lead people to the place they always wanted to be.  And then he will step aside, allowing them to journey on their own individual hero quest, before bringing them back home again.

But this is not just a series of bland tutorials.  In a fun environment Alan will show how this drum can change people lives.  No experience necessary, no skill required, anyone can do it.  Drums provided or bring your own.
