The Caerdroia Environmental Project has been developed with Making Tracks. It offers local unemployed and other disadvantaged people the chance to gain valuable skills to travel the distance back to work. Education, training, community involvement and chance to move on are fundamental to the project.
Getting involved in conservation work in remote forest spaces will give chance to work with others in a safe, supportive and peaceful environment. Participants will be encouraged to make decisions about the management of the project, developing their sense of self worth and self confidence. By helping create something that the whole community will value, the project will develop participants’ self esteem and sense of local ownership.
Combined with practical training in conservation (pond reclamation work and building compost toilets) the project will equip people with new potential for gaining future employment or further vocational training.
The project will run on Mondays for 16 weeks starting 7th January 2008.
