Caerdroia Orchard Project

Whilst maintaining the Caerdroia site an established plum orchard was uncovered. It is between 50 and 100 years old and was attached to Llyn Parc Farm before FCW compulsory purchased the land in the 1050s. FCW simply planted conifer around the orchard thus masking it from view.

The project
Golygfa Gwydyr wishes to utilise the orchard as a community project. Community volunteers will help regenerate the orchard bringing the current stock back into fruit and to add value to the produce by processing into preserves and foodstuffs.

Whilst on the project volunteers will be offered relevant Open College Network (OCN) accredited units (this being subject to Golygf Gwydyr’s application to NOCN to become a training provider) and other ‘soft skills’ training offered by GG, eg teamwork, confidence building.
